Description

G.I. Joe R.P.V. AFA 80+ NM ** Pop 1 Second Highest Graded Example ** (Hasbro, 1989). Released in 1989, the R.P.V., short for "Remote Piloted Vehicle," reflected the growing fascination with unmanned military technology during the late years of the A Real American Hero era. Compact and heavily armed, the vehicle introduced a battlefield drone concept to the G.I. Joe lineup well before remotely operated combat systems became commonplace in real-world military applications. This example has been professionally graded AFA 80+ NM. The packaging features the Super Trooper promotional offer, and according to the AFA population report, this is a Pop 1 example at the grade and ranks as the second highest graded recorded, with only three graded higher. The R.P.V. remains one of the more distinctive small vehicle concepts from the 1989 assortment, blending near-future military ideas with the increasingly technology-driven direction of the vintage line.
