Description

G.I. Joe Downtown 34-Back with Free Face Camo AFA 75 ** Only 2 Graded Examples ** (Hasbro, 1990). Downtown serves as the G.I. Joe team's mortar specialist, providing mobile fire support while operating under the constraint of limited rounds, where accuracy is critical. Known for his ability to judge range and trajectory by sight alone, he fills a role not represented in the line since the original Short-Fuze, reestablishing the concept of a field-deployed indirect fire operator capable of keeping pace with fast-moving units. Introduced in 1989, this example reflects his continued release on a 34-back card and includes the Free Face Camo packed-in premium, part of the line's in-package incentive programs of the period. From the Derryl DePriest collection. Graded AFA 75 EX+/NM, with subgrades of C75 B75 F75, this is one of only two examples recorded on the population report. He doesn't waste rounds, and he doesn't need a second chance to get it right.

A lifelong G.I. Joe enthusiast and recognized liaison between Hasbro and the collector community, DePriest later authored Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Archive Edition and has contributed extensively to documenting the history of G.I. Joe. Items offered from his collection reflect the perspective of an executive who helped guide some of the most influential collector-driven brands of the modern era.
