G.I. Joe Crystal Ball Explosion 34-Back with Fridge Offer AFA 75+ (Hasbro, 1987). Crystal Ball brought something stranger into Cobra's ranks, a hypnotist and interrogator whose filecard leaned into European mysticism, seventh-son folklore, and the kind of unsettling menace that made him stand apart from the line's more conventional specialists. This example is presented on an Explosion 34-Back card from the 1987 Series 6 release, featuring the "Fridge" mail-away offer. Long associated in collector lore with Stephen King and his son Owen, whose name also appears in the line through Sneak Peek's file name, Crystal Ball was released in only this original version. Originating from the collection of former Hasbro executive Derryl DePriest. Graded AFA 75+ EX+/NM with subgrades of C85 B75 F90, with only eight examples on the population report. With his hypno-shield and horror-writer pedigree, Crystal Ball doesn't need to read your mind to know he belongs in the collection.

More Information: Derryl DePriest is a longtime toy industry executive and pop culture historian who served as Vice President of Global Brand Management at Hasbro from 2001 to 2018, overseeing major initiatives for Star Wars and G.I. Joe during a transformative era for collector-focused product. During his tenure, Hasbro launched key lines including The Vintage Collection and the 6-inch Star Wars: The Black Series, both of which reshaped modern action figure presentation and articulation standards. A lifelong G.I. Joe enthusiast and recognized liaison between Hasbro and the collector community, DePriest later authored Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Archive Edition and has contributed extensively to documenting the history of G.I.
