Description

G.I. Joe Cobra Missile Command Headquarters - Incomplete (Hasbro, 1982). Released in late 1982 as a Sears-exclusive offering, the Cobra Missile Command Headquarters stands as one of the earliest and most ambitious playsets from the inaugural years of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. Designed as Cobra's primary base of operations, the set features a multi-level command structure centered around a missile launch system, reflecting the Cold War-inspired themes that defined the line's earliest storytelling. Notably, the set included three figures, Cobra Commander, Cobra Officer, and a Cobra Trooper, each in swivel-arm (v1.5) configuration, packaged with their red-back filecards in a distinctive presentation that differs from standard retail releases. The inclusion of the filecard holder and the sealed figure format adds to the set's appeal as a unique early-production offering tied directly to the origins of the brand. A foundational early playset with strong ties to the origins of the line, this Cobra Missile Command Headquarters offers collectors a substantial piece of G.I. Joe history, combining early packaging formats, included figures, and the commanding presence of Cobra's first headquarters environment.

More Information: The box shows moderate edge and corner wear, with scuffing, dents, and areas of crushing present. The front surface exhibits significant wear, including scuffing, creasing, tearing to the side flaps, along with discoloration and foxing, though the front panel graphics remain crisp and display well. The contents appear unused within an opened box, with the figures still sealed in their original factory bags alongside their red-back filecards and accessories. The Cobra figure's internal O-ring has failed, leaving the figure separated within the sealed bag, a known age-related issue for early G.I. Joe construction. The filecard holder and instructions are included. Part F, the moveable control elevator, along with its support pegs, is not present.
