G.I. Joe Adventure Team Talking Adventure Team Commander with Kung Fu Grip (7291) - Open Box (Hasbro, 1974). Introduced at the height of the Adventure Team era, the Talking Adventure Team Commander with Kung Fu Grip represented one of Hasbro's most ambitious upgrades to the 12-inch G.I. Joe format. With flocked hair and beard, a commanding uniform, and the newly introduced rubberized Kung Fu Grip hands, the figure embodied the shift toward more expressive, character-driven versions of Joe. The talking mechanism and bold package artwork emphasized the Adventure Team's mission fantasy, making this Commander one of the era's signature releases. The box exhibits heavy edge wear with pronounced scuffing and dents. Corners show moderate scuffing, crushing, and several small holes. Box panels display heavy scuffing, creasing, surface tears, veining, and fading consistent with long-term handling. The set is open, and the figure shows signs of deterioration: both arms have broken off and are included separately, as well as the right hand's middle finger. Even with its condition issues, this example remains a vivid artifact of the Adventure Team's most iconic innovations-flocked hair, gripping hands, and talking features that defined mid-1970s G.I.
