Description

G.I. Joe Adventure Team Radiation Detection Equipment Set AFA 75 ** Only Graded Example ** (Hasbro, 1972). Introduced in 1972, the Radiation Detection Equipment Set sends G.I. Joe into one of the more unusual mission profiles of the Adventure Team era, tracking and identifying hazardous materials in a scenario that blends science fiction tones with real-world anxieties of the atomic age. The set is immediately recognizable for its bold color palette and distinctive gear, including simulated uranium, along with equipment featuring glow-in-the-dark elements across the trim, goggles, and belt. This striking visual approach helped set the release apart from other Adventure Team offerings, giving it a unique presence both in packaging and in play. As with many sets of the period, later production variations are known, including changes to the goggles that eliminated the glowing trim in subsequent releases. Graded AFA 75 EX+/NM with subgrades of B75 W70 F85, this example stands as the only graded specimen on the population report. Radiation Detection leans into a different kind of danger, invisible, unpredictable, and already in the air before Joe even arrives. Hand him the detector and send him forward, because in this mission, the threat isn't something you can see coming.
