Description

G.I. Joe Adventure Team Mike Powers Secret Mountain Outpost AFA 75 ** Only 2 Graded Examples ** (Hasbro, 1975). Released in 1975, the Secret Mountain Outpost serves as the Adventure Team's top-secret induction center, blending rugged exterior disguise with a high-tech interior designed to evaluate prospective members. Framed by its included comic as a hidden testing facility, the set transforms from a simple mountain cabin into a fully equipped training environment, complete with diagnostic machinery, control panels, and a working treadmill system paired with an electronic bracelet to measure performance. The influence of contemporary pop culture is unmistakable, with the testing sequences and visual presentation echoing the rise of "bionic" themes in mid-1970s media. Inside, Joe is outfitted for evaluation with a white t-shirt, blue shorts, and the line's only sneakers, reinforcing the idea that this is less about combat and more about proving physical and mental readiness. Variations are known, including early examples bearing the "Bionivac" computer label before Hasbro shifted to the more common "Maxitron 80" seen in this example. Graded AFA 75 EX+/NM, this example stands among only two graded examples on the population report. The Secret Mountain Outpost is a proving ground, equal parts training facility and sci-fi experiment, where Joe isn't just sent on missions; he earns them. Step onto the treadmill, face the machine, and see if you make the cut, because not everyone walks out of this place as part of the Adventure Team.
