Description

DC Super Queens Mera 12-Inch Fashion Doll (Ideal, 1967). Released in 1967 as part of Ideal's short-lived DC Super Queens line, Mera represents a fascinating intersection of superhero mythology and mid-century fashion doll design. As Queen of Atlantis and partner to Aquaman, Mera brought regal authority and comic-book prestige to a line that sought to translate DC's heroines into a format traditionally dominated by contemporary fashion themes. The Super Queens series occupies a distinct niche within DC collectibles, reflecting a moment when publishers and toy makers were experimenting with how superhero characters could be presented beyond action figures. As a result, surviving examples, particularly in unopened condition, are notably elusive today. The box shows overall moderate to heavy wear, with edge and corner stress including crushing, and heavier surface wear to the box faces in the form of pronounced crushing, creasing, abrasions, and areas of staining. The factory cello wrap remains present but tight, contributing directly to the observed box compression. Despite the exterior wear, the figure remains Mint in Sealed Box, with no indication of removal or use since factory packing. For collectors, the Super Queens line holds strong appeal precisely because of its brevity and unconventional approach to DC characters. Mera is among the more difficult figures from the series to locate in sealed condition, making untouched examples especially desirable despite packaging wear. This doll captures a rare moment in 1960s pop culture when superhero royalty met fashion-doll elegance, producing a collectible that feels both experimental and historically significant. It stands as a compelling survivor from a narrow but memorable chapter in DC toy history.
