Description
DC Batman Glassware, Bowls, and Covered Container Lot of 11 (various, 1966-73). A striking and eclectic spread of vintage Batman-themed kitchenware spanning ceramic, glass, and melamine mediums. The standout piece is a 1966 ceramic Batmobile-shaped covered container, featuring a caped Batman driver sculpted onto the lid. Marked "Lego Japan" on the base and licensed by National Periodical Publications, Inc., this is one of the earliest known examples of Batman-themed ceramic ware. Also included are two 1966 Batman and Robin tumblers featuring unusual print palettes not commonly seen on standard examples. While collector notes describe them as "rare paint variations," no production documentation confirms their status as variants. Their presence here nonetheless offers an interesting point of comparison for glassware collectors. Accompanying the glasses is a possibly melamine tumbler, featuring Batman on one side and Robin on the other. The lot continues with a trio of 6" melamine bowls from Maleware Melmex, each featuring a vibrant 1966 Batman image at center. These are English export pieces and include the original plain cardboard shipping box. Complementing them are four 5" possibly melamine bowls by Sun-Valley, each featuring the Joker's grinning portrait against a yellow backdrop. Finally, a single plastic-wrapped character cup rounds out the lot, with full-wrap artwork showcasing Batman, Robin, Penguin, and the Riddler, dated 1966.All items exhibit varying levels of age-related wear, with some surface marks, scuffing, or fading typical of use and material. See images for further condition details. Items are sold as is. From the breakfast table to the Batcave, these pieces capture the kitschy charm and creative energy of Batman's earliest mass-market ascent. Whether you're chasing ceramic oddities, color curiosities, or Silver Age shelf candy, this Gotham glassware ensemble delivers a full course of caped crusader nostalgia.
