Description

DC Batman Coins, Print Putty, & License Plates Lot of 5 (various, 1966). A vibrant assortment of mid-1960s Batman novelty items, all released at the peak of Bat-mania and showcasing the full-color graphic flair of the Silver Age. The highlight is a 20-piece Batman Coins set by Transogram, released in 1966. These "Trade 'N' Play" plastic coins feature engraved portraits of Gotham's heroes and villains including Batman, Robin, Joker, Riddler, and Alfred, along with vehicles like the Batcopter and Batmobile. The set remains sealed on its original card, though the factory-applied cellophane is punctured in several places, with tearing along the middle and bottom rows. The card is unpunched and retains strong visual appeal despite a corner and edge wear. Also included is a complete 1966 Batman Print Putty set by Colorforms. The die-cut display card features striking head-on Batman artwork and instructions on the reverse. The set includes the print putty, secret print book, and special paper, all sealed in blister. The card shows minor surface wear and light creasing near the die-cut, but remains bright and structurally sound. The bubble display heavy denting but remains sealed.

The lot includes three license plate items. First is a green miniature plate with raised "BATMAN" lettering and a Batman graphic, still factory sealed with its red header card. Second is a 1966 "2F3567 BATMOBILE" mini-plate with Robin and Batman graphics, showing heavy scuffing and scratches across the raised details. Finally, there's a full-size metal novelty license plate from Groff Signs featuring Batman leaping over a silhouetted city. This piece shows moderate wear including scattered scratches, scuffing, and mild bending, but still presents well with strong color. A compelling mix of merchandising ephemera from the peak of Batman's first mainstream explosion, this lot captures the playful energy of the 1966 phenomenon. From trade coins to print putty, these pieces celebrate the Dark Knight's lighter side-back when he fought crime with a quip, a gadget, and a POW!
