Description

DC Batman '66 Mixed Lot Featuring Vinyl Records, Periodicals, & Stamps (various, 1966-77). This eclectic and nostalgia-rich lot captures the explosive popularity of Batman during and after the 1966 television series starring Adam West, along with a broader assortment of DC Comics ephemera from the mid-1960s through the late 1970s. With items ranging from children's activity books and vinyl 45s to pop-art stickers and rare promotional materials, this grouping offers a vibrant cross-section of how Batman and his fellow heroes permeated American pop culture during the height of the Silver Age.

Among the highlights is the Joint-Action Batman wall-hanger from Our Way Studio (1977), a cardboard cutout of Batman with poseable limbs designed to hang on display. From the peak of the show's initial craze comes a rare 4"x4" package of Glo-Colors Bat Stickers by Alan-Whitney (1966), along with two uncut neon orange Batman sticker sheets and a bold 15"x3" "Batman is here" bumper sticker, all in striking '60s pop-art style. A 4"x11" Super Hero Stamps envelope from Celebrity Stamps (1976) is also included, housing a single sheet of ten embossed DC stamps featuring characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash. Vinyl lovers will appreciate three Batman-related 45 RPM records, including Batman Theme (Tifton Records, 1966), The Catwoman's Revenge (Power Records, 1975), and a dual-feature Power Records release of The Flash: The Three Faces of Mr. Gig and Aquaman: The Defeat of the Dehydrator (1975).

Two standout pieces capture Batman's massive cultural imprint in 1966: an Adam West promotional mini-magazine and the March 11, 1966 issue of Life Magazine, featuring West in full costume on the cover-a hallmark of just how far the Bat-mania phenomenon had reached. Also present is a July 1966 issue of Playboy, known for its humorous and culturally significant Batgirl centerfold, a tongue-in-cheek nod to the superhero craze. Rounding out the lot is a generous collection of vintage children's activity books, including three Batman & Robin Coloring Books (Watkins Strathmore, 1966), a Sticker Fun with Batman book (Watkins Strathmore, 1966), a Batman Meets Blockbuster coloring book - used (Whitman, 1966), and a Batman & Robin Dot-to-Dot and Color Book (Vasquez Bros., 1967). Altogether, this lot paints a vivid picture of Batman's cultural footprint during his first mainstream explosion and into the broader DC superhero boom of the 1970s. It's an outstanding snapshot of vintage Batman merchandising and a treasure trove of ephemera for any serious collector of Golden and Silver Age superhero memorabilia.
