Description

Batman Coin Lot (Various, 1974-16). A striking blend of superhero legacy and numismatic artistry, this Batman lot contains eight collectible coins released by DC Comics, the Royal Canadian Mint, and the American Medallion Corporation from 1974 through 2016. The centerpiece is the limited edition Heroes of the Comics solid bronze proof set from Mount Everest Mint, featuring six legendary characters-Superman, Batman & Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician-housed in a deluxe collector case that bears a prominent scratch across the lid. Also included are two bronze medallions from the Cartoon Celebrities line, depicting Robin and the Penguin, each sealed on their original cards. The collection continues with a beautifully presented Batman Returns one-ounce silver coin housed in a display case alongside a photo insert book. Rounding out the lot are two Batman: The Dark Knight Defender of Gotham City coins from 1999 and a pair of $20 Batman vs. Superman fine silver coins crafted in .9999 argent pur by the Royal Canadian Mint. Each item is housed in its original packaging and exhibits signs of handling wear, including edge and corner softening, creases, surface scratches, and scuffing. Despite the wear, this collection remains a powerful tribute to decades of DC Comics coinage.
