Description

Batman Batgun & Holster Set (Lone Star, 1966). A standout from the golden age of superhero merchandising, this vintage Batman Batgun and Holster set, released in 1966 by Lone Star, captures the imaginative spirit of mid-century toy design. Based on molds previously used for space-age toy weapons like the Dan Dare and Stingray ray guns, this version marked the first time the design was rendered in plastic and uniquely retooled with large black bat emblems on both sides of the barrel. The Batgun was designed to take roll caps, with a black plastic target finder mounted on top for added flair. This example appears to be complete. The red holster and white belt remain partially attached to the original display card, which shows signs of handling wear, including edge and corner creasing, surface scuffs, bends, and a tear along the center right edge of the backing. The white belt shows light discoloration, and the gun handle has scuffing wear with some dust present. There appears to have a crack along the inside of the handle and beneath the trigger. Despite signs of age, the set remains an impressive and rare piece of Batman's early merchandising legacy, offering a vivid glimpse into how the Caped Crusader captured the imaginations of young fans everywhere.
