Batman Art & Framed Prints (Davco, 1966). A vivid throwback to the height of Batman's 1960s pop-art explosion, this lot includes nine framed pieces of collectible art and prints produced by Davco/Pillgrim Inc., a subsidiary of Chelsea Industries based in Peabody, Massachusetts. This colorful collection begins with four small framed knit-style portraits-two of Batman and two of Robin-each labeled with their names beneath the image. One Batman piece features a dramatic full-body pose, the other a bold close-up, while Robin is depicted mid-swing in one and in a stoic stance in the other. Each of these framed works measures approximately 8 by 5.875 inches. Larger framed artwork captures the cheerful spirit of the Batman '66 television show: one features Batman flashing his signature grin, the other shows a profile view of Robin with his classic comic-book smile. Both are framed to 18.25 by 12.125 inches, and channel the animated opening and closing style of the hit series. The standout piece is a posterboard litho from 1966-the debut year of the show-featuring Batman and Robin in a classic pose. Framed to 18.75 by 22.75 inches, it shows edge and surface wear, corner creasing, and small pin-sized holes in the center. Rounding out the set are two "dime store" prints of Batman and Robin, each with an image area of roughly 6.5 by 14.5 inches, framed (without glass) to 8.75 by 16.75 inches. These show some staining, including minor color loss on the Robin print near the lower right corner and spotting throughout both. Together, this framed ensemble captures the colorful charm, campy style, and enduring appeal of Batman's earliest television era in striking wall-ready form.
