Description

Batgirl Super Queens Doll (Ideal, 1967). A standout gem from the golden age of superhero collectibles, this Batman lot showcases the rare and trailblazing Super Queens Batgirl figure released by Ideal in 1967. As part of the short-lived Super Queens line, this 12.5-inch posable figure brought Barbara Gordon's Batgirl to toy shelves alongside Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Mera, spotlighting DC's heroines in a bold new way. Modeled after Ideal's "Posin' Misty" doll, Batgirl features rooted hair, expressive side-glancing eyes, and a striking costume that includes a black bodysuit with a metallic Bat-emblem, gold utility belt, blue gloves, scalloped boots, a removable vinyl cape, Batarang accessory and a rubber cowl. A rare blonde-haired variant was also offered exclusively through the 1967 Sears Wish Book, adding a layer of scarcity to this already hard-to-find collectible. The vintage collectible shows handling wear, including surface scratching and scuffing, slight discoloration on the boots, and fraying of the hair. While the Super Queens line saw limited commercial success and ended after a single series, Batgirl's figure has since become a prized piece of DC history, cherished by collectors for its pioneering role in early female superhero representation.
