Description

G.I. Joe Gold Head Steel Brigade Mail-In Exclusive AFA 85 ** POP 1, Highest Grade ** (Hasbro, 1992). The Steel Brigade program gave G.I. Joe fans the opportunity to imagine themselves joining the ranks of the team, transforming the traditional action figure experience into a personalized mail-away enlistment concept that became one of the brand's most memorable promotions. Released in 1992, the Gold Head Steel Brigade figure carried that idea into the later years of the vintage line, distinguished by its striking gold-painted helmet. This example has been graded AFA 85 NM+ with subgrades of C80 B80 F85. The figure remains sealed in its original factory bag with the included backpack and patch however no rifle is present with this example, representing a packaging error. Also included are the original file card and original mailer shipping box, a component frequently discarded upon arrival and considerably more difficult to locate decades later. Offered from the collection of Chris Murray. For Steel Brigade collectors, the original shipping materials are often as challenging to locate as the figure itself. The presence of the mailer box and file card, combined with the unusual factory omission of the rifle, creates a package that stands apart from a typical sealed Gold Head Steel Brigade example.
