Description

G.I. Joe Quick Kick Test Shot Prototype (Hasbro, 1985). This unpainted factory-produced Quick Kick test shot preserves an early developmental stage of the martial arts specialist introduced during the mid-1980s expansion of the A Real American Hero line. Produced prior to finalized paint applications, test shots such as this were used during the refinement and approval stages of figure production. From the collection of Derryl DePriest and accompanied by a corresponding COA. Molded primarily in green plastic, the figure places the sculpt and tooling details fully on display, offering a look at the relaunch-era Quick Kick design before production decoration was applied. The unusual plastic color further distinguishes the piece from the retail release while highlighting a stage of manufacturing rarely seen outside the development process.

More Information: Please note the figure has a loose O-ring.

Derryl DePriest is a longtime toy industry executive and pop culture historian who served as Vice President of Global Brand Management at Hasbro from 2001 to 2018, overseeing major initiatives for Star Wars and G.I. Joe during a transformative era for collector-focused product. During his tenure, Hasbro launched key lines including The Vintage Collection and the 6-inch Star Wars: The Black Series, both of which reshaped modern action figure presentation and articulation standards. A lifelong G.I. Joe enthusiast and recognized liaison between Hasbro and the collector community, DePriest later authored Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Archive Edition and has contributed extensively to documenting the history of G.I. Joe. Items offered from his collection reflect the perspective of an executive who helped guide some of the most influential collector-driven brands of the modern era.
