Heritage Auctions' Museum & Institutional Services department is dedicated to fulfilling the specific collection management needs of museums and institutions with the utmost respect and discretion. With the specific needs of your museum or institution in mind, Heritage has created a selection of services to assist in the valuation and management of your collection, exhibitions, and museum. Preliminary consultations for any of these services can be arranged at no cost.

Appraisals of Permanent Collections or Works on Loan

Heritage Auctions Appraisal Services, Inc. understands the need for public and legal accountability, and we provide various types of appraisals that can assist in the operation of your institution. All appraisal reports are written in compliance with current IRS, legal, and USPAP standards.

  • Insurance Appraisals - Keep your insurance policy up-to-date, insure a new piece, or even insure pieces entering the museum on loan for an exhibition
  • Fair Market Value Appraisals  - Determine the value of your items for future collection management, or simply get an up-to-date catalogue of your property
  • Non-Cash Charitable Donation Appraisals  - Refer donors if they need an appraisal for tax purposes of their donation

Collection Acquisitions

If you are looking to add to or refine your collection, Heritage experts will help you with every step of the process. Our specialists can notify you of opportunities in Heritage sales to meet your interests and objectives. Because we devote our resources and attention to both the fine art middle market and collectibles in 40 categories, we have an established history of working with museums of various sizes and missions.

Deaccessioning

Whether it is a single item or an entire collection, Heritage is well-equipped to market and monetize objects that are no longer vital to your mission. Our dedicated team will work directly with your institution to identify your fundraising objectives and develop comprehensive sales plans that exceed your expectations. When possible, Heritage will work with museum staff to reduce consignment costs and offer significant cash advances on consignments for auction.

Art Loans

If you are seeking works for an upcoming exhibition, we are happy to facilitate loan requests on your institution's behalf. Leveraging our network of 1.25 million bidder members, Heritage has unparalleled access to a diverse pool of collectors who are interested in placing their art on public view.

Special Events

The Heritage show rooms in Dallas , Beverly Hills , and New York are perfect for member appreciation events, networking events, or any other special event you may host. Our staff can coordinate with your institution to plan for any event you may require. Heritage can also provide licensed auctioneers for private charity benefits or client appreciation events.
