Sinatra Painting to be Auctioned by Heritage!

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers (HGA) will offer an original oil painting by famed entertainer Frank Sinatra, the first painting by the legendary entertainer ever offered to the public, in their upcoming Signature auction to be held October 8, 2005 in their Dallas, Texas headquarters.

"This is an unbelievable opportunity," said Doug Norwine, Director of HGA's Music and Entertainment auctions. "Frank Sinatra was one of the most significant entertainers of the 20th Century, and one of the most powerful men in Hollywood for most of that time. Most people know that he was a great actor and singer, but few are aware that he was also a gifted painter and graphic artist, who even designed the logo for his Reprise record label."

"Although Sinatra painted for most of his adult life," Norwine continued, "his creations have never before been offered for sale. This particular piece, painted in 1992 and strikingly rendered in Sinatra's favorite colors - orange, blue and red - would prove to be the last painting completed by 'The Chairman of the Board' before his death in 1998, as failing eyesight and some devastating personal issues put an end to the hobby he had loved for more than 50 years. Fittingly, this piece is also emblematic of the Sinatra style, with its bold use of color and geometric shapes. This marvelous work was consigned to us by one of Sinatra's closest friends, and comes with impeccable provenance."

"Although it's difficult to place an estimate on this piece," Norwine said, "given that no other example of Sinatra's paintings have ever been offered publicly, we wouldn't be surprised to see this piece open in the mid-five figure range."
