Elton John and Bernie Taupin's Historic Songwriting Piano.
There are few instruments that can come close to the musical significance and amazing songwriting history yielded from the keys of this piano. Direct from its current and rightful home in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, we are proud to present Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin's world famous songwriting piano. Used by the iconic songwriting duo to compose over a hundred songs, this white 1910-era A-Day Birdcage upright served as the primary vehicle that John and Taupin used to compose Elton's first five albums, including "Empty Sky"(1969), "Elton John" (1970), "Tumbleweed Connection" (1970), "Mad Man Across The Water" (1971) and "Friends: The Soundtrack" (1971). Possessing a resume that far exceeds the depth and involvement of most songwriting instruments of its caliber, a mere brief listing of songs that have been created on this very piano includes: "Your Song"(Elton's signature song), Border Song", "Burn Down The Mission", "Mad Man Across The Water", "Take It To The Pilot", "Lady Samantha", "Skyline Pidgeon", "Sixty Years On", "Friends", "Come Down In Time", "I've Been Loving You", "Rock N' Roll Madonna", "Bad Side of The Moon", "Levon" and the timeless classic "Tiny Dancer", just to name a few. In addition to its extensive songwriting credits, this piano also served as a prominent performance centerpiece that can be seen in the documentary, "Elton John and Bernie Taupin Two Rooms," played by John as he is composing and performing "Tiny Dancer". Additionally, John is also pictured with the piano on the back cover of the American version of "Empty Sky". Finally in the To Be Continued Box Set, released in 1990, in the story booklet when interviewed for this project, Bernie describes the upright piano as their "Brill Building"and mentions what was written on the piano as stated above. Typically, accomplished musicians will retain their pianos throughout their career due to the intimacy and involvement that th

The Byrds: Roger McGuinn's 1966 Rickenbacker Model 370-12 'BYRD' Guitar.
"In my opinion, the Byrds' sound would have been impossible without the invention of the Rickenbacker twelve string electric guitar." -- Roger McGuinn. This natural-finished Rickenbacker 370-12 was ordered new by Roger McGuinn with custom factory controls of his specification, commonly referred to among Rickenbacker collectors as the 'BYRD' model. This was the only Rickenbacker 12 string Roger McGuinn owned and used from June of 1966, when this instrument was completed, until early 1971. All of The Byrds' live appearances and recordings during this period bearing the signature Byrds' Rickenbacker sound and look feature this instrument. Live Events include: Monterey Pop Festival, Newport Pop Festivals (1968), Fillmore East, Fillmore West, Holland Pop Festival (featured in the concert film Stamping Ground), and all other live appearances into March, 1971. Television Appearances include: American Bandstand, Drop In, Playboy After Dark, Popside, Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Top of The Pops, The Tonight Show, Where The Action Is, and others. Recording Appearances include: This guitar appeared on all sessions between July 28, 1966 and January 26, 1971 that feature Roger McGuinn on electric 12 string. Highlights include the singles So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star, My Back Pages, and Chestnut Mare. LPs include Younger Than Yesterday, The Notorious Byrd Brothers, Sweetheart of the Rodeo, Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde, Ballad of Easy Rider, (Untitled), and Byrdmaniax. Roger owned the guitar another eight years following these documented uses, so it may appear on other recordings from early 1971 until 1979, although we have to date found no photographic evidence of its use after March of 1971. Roger added a mini switch to the instrument to turn on and off a Vox Treble Booster, the circuit of which he wired into the instrument. This mini switch can be seen between the two factory installed toggle switches. Roger removed the

Nirvana: Kurt Cobain's 1960's Mosrite Gospel Guitar.
This instrument is unusual in a couple of ways. It is the only known example of a Mark V style Mosrite Gospel model. While Kurt owned and smashed many cheap (usually Univox) copies of Mosrite guitars during his career, this was one of only two actual Mosrites he owned. (The other was damaged and given away.) It was also one of his favorite guitars, which saved it from the usual fate of the instruments he used for live performances. Kurt purchased the guitar in San Francisco in 1990. "According to Earnie [Bailey], 'Kurt had only one Gospel, and this is a beyond rare guitar. At the time Kurt died, I was secretly working with Loretta Mosley to build Kurt a lefty Gospel... in some cool color.' Unfortunately, Kurt passed away as Earnie was gathering photos to send to Mosrite of Kurt's original. 'Loretta sent me a nice letter after it ended, as she had recently lost Semie (husband, founder of Mosrite) and was now running Mosrite on her own... she had sent me some sales literature of another Gospel, but could find no history of ever having made one based on the Mark V guitar.'" (Quote reprinted from www.kurtsequipment.com.) Kurt had painted the very small Mosrite dot markers with white-out to make them more visible in a live setting. Although the current owner removed this simple modification, residue is still visible on the instrument. This is a factory right handed instrument, so it was modified for Kurt with a strap button added to the treble side horn, and the original metal string guide has been flipped to allow it to be strung left handed. The original case bears the words 'NIRVANA' and 'F... Elvis' [colorful expletive deleted here but preserved on the case - Ed.] in white paint which, while painted over with the same white paint, are still visible on inspection.

The Beatles: George Harrison's Harptone 12 String Guitar.
George Harrison received this guitar prior to recording The Beatles' 'White Album.' While there is currently no evidence that it was used on any Beatles recording, it was used by George and members of Badfinger on the sessions for George's All Things Must Pass LP set and by Badfinger member Tom Evans at Madison Square Garden during the Concert For Bangla Desh charity shows. In 1974, George gave the guitar to Bob Purvis, a member of the band Splinter. George produced Splinter's debut LP, 'The Place I Love,' and played this guitar during those sessions. The original tuners were replaced some time before George gave the guitar to Mr. Purvis. An endpin mini-jack and Barcus Berry pickup were professionally installed in the mid to late 1970s. Harptone's instruments were built in Newark, New Jersey, from 1966 until the mid-1970s. This instrument comes with a letter of authenticity on Harrison's letterhead. George Harrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 as a member of The Beatles. He has been inducted again this year, 2004, as a solo artist.

The Beatles: Vintage Signed UK Prototype Poster (1963).
Original 1963 English prototype poster, 17.25 x 22, featuring a terrific set of four concert images capturing each Beatle in the midst of a performance, beautifully signed by all four on their corresponding images. A magnificent set of autographs, each Beatle has beautifully signed in blue ballpoint ballpoint ink (with the exception of McCartney who signs in black), "Love to Susan, Paul McCartney, xxxx," "To Jane love from John Lennon xxx," "To Sue love you George Harrison xxx," and "To Sue love from Ringo Starr xxx." On the reverse of the poster are signatures of some of the the opening acts for this concert tour. The poster was signed during the Beatles' Autumn Tour starting November 1, 1963, which included their now famous Royal Command Performance in front of the Queen Mother on November 4th. Many Beatles aficionados will immediately recognize the importance of this item, that The Beatles seldom signed any images that featured them with their instruments, primarily due to the fact that most of their publicity photos feature them in studio and non-musical poses. Presently, there are only a handful of vintage group signed items featuring images of the band with their instruments, and this item holds the incredible distinction of being the only known signed poster showing the entire band with their instruments. Furthermore, although the piece has been professionally restored, the impression is a poster in excellent condition, with no folds or creases and virtually no evidence of wear whatsoever. Because of the inherent quality and content, and considering the rarity of this piece, it would be nearly impossible to overstate the its collectability.

Beatles - Large Set of Car Mascot Bobbin' Head Figures (1964).
Seldom offered in a full set, these large bobbin' head Car Mascot figures of the Fab Four are some of the rarest of the Beatles collectibles. Produced in a very limited quantity as a store display item, these figures have always commanded attention whenever offered for sale. Produced by Car Mascot in 1964, these 14" tall figures differ dramatically from the smaller version. They are much more detailed and much more life-like in their similarity to the features of the Beatles. The last set sold in auction more than six years ago and that set -- not in this excellent condition -- brought over $10,000. Offered here is one of the finer sets known, with only minimal restoration done to the McCartney figure. Now is your chance, since you never know if another set will come up for sale. Very Fine+. The Beatles: Vintage March 1964 Signature Set with Brian Epstein!
Exceptional set of signatures accomplished on the reverse of an 4.5 x 6 invitation for Mr. and Mrs. George Coas to attend the Carl-Alan Awards on March 23, 1964 at the Empire Ballroom. Penned by the group in blue ballpoint along with their famed manager Brian Epstein, the signatures read, "Brian Epstein," "George Harrison (B.A.)," "John Lennon (B.O.)," "Paul McCartney (a pal)," and, "Ringo Starr." A momentous occasion in The Beatles' early stages of success, the group was honored with 2 Carl-Alan Awards on the evening when the signatures were obtained. Although originally signed by a variety of guests in attendance that night along with the Beatles, the additional signatures have been professionally removed from the piece, however there are virtually no signs of alteration. Vintage signature groupings of this quality are scarce, and signed items with the Beatles and Brian Epstein are virtually nonexistent and incredibly desirable. A superlative piece of memorabilia from every aspect, this item will easily stand as a centerpiece in any memorabilia collection.

Nikki Sixx Motley Crue 1981 BC Rich Mockingbird Bass.
This 1981 BC Rich Mockingbird Bass, serial number 85447, was used by Nikki Sixx in Motley Crue's early days. The Beatles Incredible Signed Lyric Book with Handwritten Annotations!
In October of 1963, The Beatles expanded their international horizons and made their way to Sweden for what would be the band's first European tour outside of the UK. Beatlemania quickly grabbed hold in Sweden as the band made their way through an 8-day, 5-show tour of the country. A media intensive trip, the band made numerous appearances on Swedish television and radio, and was also scheduled for a variety of interviews, including a sit-down interview for Sweden's highly popular Expressen newspaper. On the evening of October 26, 1963, The Beatles sat down with accomplished Swedish journalist Lars Widding to fulfill the interview obligation with the Expressen newspaper. Widding, the father of a teenage daughter who joined the droves of countless Swedish teenagers in the madness of Beatlemania, decided to bring his daughter along for the evening so that she could attend the concert and also have an opportunity to meet the group. As many did during the time, Widding's daughter had created an homage to the group in the form of a handwritten lyric book, accented by a variety of vintage newspaper clippings of the Beatles' images along the front and back covers. At her memorable meeting with the Fab Four during her father's interview session, Widding's daughter presented her lyric book to the band in hopes of getting them to sign the inside. Not only did the group sign the inside, but all four were apparently quite amused by the creation and took time to browse through the book before handing it back to young Ms. Widding at the end of the interview. Presented here in this lot is Ms. Widding's book, completely intact in its original form, beautifully signed by the Beatles on the first two pages: "Paul McCartney," "John Lennon," (reverse side of McCartney page) "Best wishes from George Harrison," and "Ringo Starr" (reverse of Harrison page). All four signatures are accomplished in a strong blue ballpoint ink on clean line

Badfinger Handwritten Lyrics - Pete Ham - "Apple of My Eye".
Direct from the hand of ill-fated frontman/songwriter Pete Ham, offered here is a complete handwritten lyric sheet for the 1973 Badfinger single "Apple of My Eye" (the last single ever issued for the band through Apple Records). This song was written specifically as a farewell and thank you to The Beatles, and their record label, Apple. After this record Badfinger signed with Warner Brothers. Penned by Ham on the reverse of a 8 x 11.75 sheet of paper in purple ink, the lyrics read, in full: "Oh I'm sorry but its time to move away - Though inside my heart I really want to stay - Believe the love that we have is so sincere - You know the gift you have will always be - Your the apple of my eye - Your the apple of my heart - But now the time has come to part - Oh I'm sorry but its time to make a stand - Though we never meant to bite the loving hand - And now the time has come to walk alone We were the children now were overgrown - Your the apple of my eye - Your the apple of my heart - But now the time has come to part." Some light surface loss to the reverse side of the page, however not affecting the lyrics on the front whatsoever. A superb investment-grade relic for the collection of the serious Badfinger fan!

John Taylor's Duran Duran/Power Station Kubicki Ex Factor Bass Prototype.
This Ex Factor bass, serial # 024, made in January 1985, is one of the last in a line of prototypes that defined the Factor Bass product line. "Changed after this instrument were the pickup shape, re-locating the pickups, and some changes in the circuitboard." This bass was made by the same person that made the George Harrison Telecaster. "Through our contacts in the UK with Duran Duran and John Taylor we sent this bass to him for his use and approval. John used this bass for a performance on Saturday Night Live [by The Power Station.] It was the first time a Factor Bass was seen on television." It was also used for other Power Station and Duran Duran appearances. John Taylor later received two production Ex Factor Basses, (including the white one currently on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum,) and returned this bass to the factory, where it has been a prized possession of Philip Kubicki Technology. Impressive complete grouping of black ballpoint pen signatures, "John Lennon," "Congratulations La! Paul McCartney," "George Harrison," and "Ringo Starr," accomplished on a 7 x 4.25 contest page. Capitalizing on the Beatle craze of 1964, a London radio station held a contest where one of their listeners would have the opportunity to spend a day with the Beatles. The winner of the contest, A.F. Prescott, had the Beatles sign the consent form which the radio station used to determine his winning (Hence the "Congratulations! La (meaning lad in English)" salutation by McCartney). One of the bisecting fold lines slightly intersects McCartney's signature, otherwise this piece stands in exceptionally fine condition.

Scarce 1961/62 Beatles Signed Album Page with Ringo on Reverse!
Terrific vintage album page signatures from the band's original lineup, "To Erika, love Paul McCartney xxx," "Love to Erika, John Lennon xxx," "To Erika, George Harrison xxxx," and "Love to Erika, from, Pete Best, xxx." Obtained in person from the group at the Cavern Club in 1961/62, all four signatures are beautifully accomplished in a strong ballpoint ink. Adding to the desirability and irony of this item, the reverse side of the page bears a signature from a young Ringo Starr, "To Rikki, love Ringo Starr," which was signed on the same evening as the Beatles when Ringo performed with Rory Storm! Furthering the Beatle heritage of this now storied page, Erika (the collector who acquired the signatures) decided to add the signatures of Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon, with both nicely inscribing and autographing the page directly below Ringo. Some light soiling along the edges and adhesive staining where the page was removed from the album, however, the signatures stand in overall fine condition and are not affected. This piece is the only known item with dual vintage signatures from the 2 Beatle drummers. A terrific representation of the Beatle lineage and history!

Before there was John, Paul, George, and Ringo there was John, Paul, George... and Pete! By spring of 1962 The Beatles were a permanent quartet and were on their way to superstardom. By that time, they had signed with Brian Epstein, recorded their first single ("My Bonnie"), and were discussing with renowned producer, George Martin, the possibility of producing their first album. Everything seemed to be falling into place, and it appeared that John, Paul, George, and Pete were on their way to being household names. Encapsulating this unique moment in Beatles history, presented here is an autograph book from 15-year-old Judy Ross, who in March of 1962 decided to bring her book to a favorite UK hangout, Stroud Subscription Rooms, and obtain the signatures of the various up-and-coming bands who played the venue. Among the myriad of signatures is a beautiful page signed by all four Beatles in a crisp blue ballpoint pen, "Love to Judy from Paul McCartney xxx THE BEATLES," "George Harrison (thank-you xxxxxx)," "Love to Judy from John Lennon xxx," and, "Love to Judy, from Pete Best, xxx." An accompanying letter from Ross' son, Chris Seagal, details his mother's encounter with the band, reading in part, "The Beatles were obtained from when she went to Stroud Subscription Rooms on the 24th March 1962 when the group made a promotional visit." It was only a few months after these autographs were obtained that Pete was abruptly removed from the band and replaced with Ringo Starr, cementing the lineup that would forever be recognized as The Beatles. Measuring 6.5 x 8, the page stands in overall fine, with reverse tape remnants not affecting the signatures. All four signatures are vibrant, with McCartney's rating a solid "9" and Lennon, Harrison, and Best rating a "10"! Complete sets of Beatles' signatures from the Pete Best era are becoming increasingly difficult to find, and few can compare to the quality of this exceptional example.

The Beatles: Vintage Signature Grouping.
Excellent set of vintage signatures in black ballpoint pen, "John Lennon," "George Harrison," and in blue ballpoint pen, "Paul McCartney," and "Ringo Starr," during their last European Tour in 1966. While on the plane to Manila, The Beatles signed a Kuwait Airlines sticker patch, with the "peel-off." In Manila, The Beatles encountered severe hostility, as they were accused of snubbing a meeting with Imelda Marcos. This was the last stop of the European Tour before ending in the US in San Francisco, August 29th, 1966. Very rare to find from this era. Size: Both approximately 4.25 in diameter.

The Rembrandts: Fender Custom Shop Telecoustic Prototype Guitar used for recording the "Friends" theme.
Phil Solem acquired this "experimental" Fender Telecoustic a few days before The Rembrandts' appearance on The Tonight Show in 1991. It was a prototype model, built in the Fender Custom Shop by master builder Jay Black, with a single humbucker in the neck position and an acoustic bridge pickup. Following the Tonight Show performance the Custom Shop added the second humbucking pickup. In Phil's words: "I used it to record both the original version and the full-length single of 'I'll Be There For You,' the Friends theme song. It's been around the world several times, and has lived through its fair share of abusive stage antics." The guitar was also used extensively on the Rembrandts' Untitled and L.P. albums. During a Hard Rock Cafe grand-opening in Phoenix, in 1995, it was "painted" by the performance artist/painter Denny Dent (who died on March 29, 2004). "Denny saw my white guitar and thought it would be an opportunity to be creative. A news crew filmed him in action, whipping colors onto the instrument, while we Rembrandts were joined by Seal and Alice Cooper to witness the act. His painted fingerprints and autograph remain on the back."

The Beatles: Rare Signature Set with Jimmy Nicol (June 1964).
The now legendary path of the Beatles in their march to immortality took a strange twist during June of 1964. The Beatles were to tour Scandinavia, Holland, the Far East and Australia. But, on June 3, the day before the tour, Ringo collapsed at an early morning photo session for the Saturday Evening Post at a portrait studio in Barnes, London. He had a 102-degree fever and tonsillitis and was rushed to the hospital. While having his tonsils out in London, he was temporarily replaced for the Denmark and Holland concert dates by shy 24-year-old session drummer Jimmy Nicol. Beatles producer George Martin suggested Jimmy because he had recently recorded at EMI with Tommy Quickly and he'd also recently become familiar with Beatles numbers while drumming on a recording session for an album called Beatlemania. Although this replacement was met with great defiance by members of the Beatles camp, namely George Harrison, the tour proceeded with Jimmy Nicol as an honorary member of The Fab Four. Ringo was discharged from the hospital on June 11, and he rejoined the group in Melbourne on June 15, 1964. After less then two weeks, the dream ride for Jimmy Nicol was over, and he headed back to London and vanished back into anonymity. Capturing that strange chain of events is this vintage set of signatures obtained during the early leg of the June '64 tour, handsomely signed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Jimmy Nicol in blue ballpoint pen. Accomplished on the reverse of a Rolls Royce 707 jetliner postcard, this item stands in overall fine condition, with only slight impressions at the edges and a faint shade of toning. Most importantly, the signatures are bold and distinguished, standing as a solid "9" collectively. Included is a rare 11 x14 color photo of them at press conference, off the negative and suitable for matting. A letter of provenance accompanies the autographs.

Elton John & John Lennon Signed One Dollar Bill.
Possibly the only dual signed relic from the eve of their historic concert performance at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving night, November 28th,1974, presented here is a one dollar bill signed by both Elton John and John Lennon in blue ballpoint pen. Obtained in person at a post concert celebration, accompanying this piece is a letter of authenticity from the restaurant bartender who acquired the signatures that fateful night, reading in part, "This signed bill was obtained by me while working as bartender in a very hot and exclusive restaurant on East 58th Street in New York City called KATJA... After one of the concerts a group of about 12 people including Elton John and John Lennon arrived for a late dinner. While their table was being prepared they waited at the bar and had a drink. I made them all drinks and someone other than Lennon and John paid for the fairly large tab. He then left me a one dollar tip which I was disappointed in. I asked him if he would have John Lennon and Elton John sign it for me. They both did and John Lennon handed it back to me." Tastefully matted and framed with an image of John and Lennon from the concert to an overall size of 16 x 20.5. This was John Lenonn's last concert appearance! Awesome!
