Press Release - August 3, 2004

Heritage-Odyssey Rocks the World in September!

Dallas, Texas: Heritage-Odyssey Auctions (HOA) will offer a spectacular assortment of music and pop cultural memorabilia in its upcoming Signature Auction, to be held September 23, 2004, in their Dallas, Texas offices.

"This is one of the most exciting collections I've ever seen," said Doug Norwine, Consignment Director for HOA. "There's something for just about everyone in this sale, including stage-worn outfits from such legendary performers as George Jones and Elvis Presley, as well as an impressive collection of Imperial Gold Records awarded to Ricky Nelson, Fats Domino and Slim Whitman."

"One of the most unique items in the sale," Norwine said, " is the 1929 National Style One Tricone Model Hawaiian "Dobro" Guitar. This fascinating instrument, made mostly of chrome (and hence earning the designation 'dobro'), is a beautiful example of an early National guitar. Although its original ownership is still a mystery, there's good reason for believing that it may well have been one of the three acoustic National guitars owned by Sol Ho' Opi' I (pronounced Who-Oo-Pee-Pee), who is regarded by steel guitar buffs around the world as 'King of the Steel Guitar,' because he invented the multiple tunings that are popular today and was the first and greatest artist in this style. Whatever its pedigree, however, there's no denying that this is a superb instrument that any guitar collector will cherish."

"Of interest to Beatles collectors," continued Norwine, "will be the one-of a kind Beatles promotional display prototype that was developed for record stores but never used. It's a handsome piece that will make some lucky collector very happy."

"Jazz fans haven't been forgotten," added Ed Jaster, HOA's Director of Acquisitions. "We've obtained an impressive collection of vintage promotional windows cards signed by such greats as Louis Armstrong, Chick Webb and Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie and Bunny Berigan. Rounding out the sale are hundreds of vintage rock-and-roll records and memorabilia, including 45s (many with picture sleeves), LPs, and Eps, with many particularly collectible Beatles and Elvis items."
