Description

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Universal, 2008), King Balor and Princess Nuala Scanning Puppets from Opening Prologue. Pair of original maquettes digitally scanned for the animated prologue narrated by Young Hellboy's adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (John Hurt), who tells the story of the ancient war between humans and elves and the genesis of the Golden Army. Each maquette is beautifully crafted of resin made to appear like carved wooden posable puppets (puppets are static), expertly painted and detailed by hand and dressed in their royal attire. These unique puppets can be seen on one of the shelves in Bleak House as shown on page 212 in Guillermo del Toro: Cabinet of Curiosities - My Notebooks, Collections and Other Obsessions. Each maquette is mounted on its original wooden production base and stands approximately 16.5" tall (width ranges from 10" to 15"). Figures exhibit minor production wear. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.

"When we came up with the puppet sequence, we wanted to evoke stop-motion, so instead of just digital sculpting, we commissioned these beautiful scanning models to use in that scene. They are each unique and one-of-a-kind." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
