Description
The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella (Universal, 1976), Gemma Craven "Cinderella" Costume Sketch by Julie Harris. Original costume sketch accomplished in gouache and ink on 10.5" x 14.25" artist's board, with 9.5" x 13.5" visible through a 13.75" x 17.75" mat board. The sketch depicts Cinderella (Gemma Craven) in a pink mantua-style ball gown with gathered, ruffled sleeves and gold trim details. Signed by costume designer Julie Harris in black ink on the bottom right corner. The verso includes "Slipper + The Rose" handwritten in black ink on the top right corner. The design is visually similar to a gown worn by Cinderella near the end of the film when she sings "I Can't Forget the Melody" while swinging in her garden. The design may have been modified to better reflect the Rococo style seen on screen. Exhibits production wear and age, including minor handling wear and toning. The bottom right edge of the mat has frayed. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection. Condition statements are offered as general guidance only, not as complete representations of fact, and do not constitute a warranty or assumption of liability by Heritage. Some condition issues may not be noted but may be visible in the photos, which are considered part of the condition report. Lots estimated at $1,000 or less are not de-framed for inspection, and we may be unable to provide additional details for lots valued under $500. Heritage does not guarantee the condition of frames and is not liable for damage to frames, glass/acrylic coverings, original boxes, display accessories, or artwork that has shifted in the frame.
