Pan's Labyrinth (Tequila Gang, 2006), Girl and Frog Storyboard Original Art. This richly detailed storyboard sequence depicts the memorable scene in which Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) enters the sickened, gnarled tree to fulfill the first of the three trials assigned to her by the Faun (Doug Jones). After crawling through the muddy, thorn-covered entrance, she encounters the grotesque toad that guards the key inside its swollen belly. This page not only illustrates del Toro's editing strategy but also highlights a zoom into Ofelia's face as she sees the beast, along with over-the-shoulder shots as she strategizes how best to retrieve the object of her quest-by tricking the toad into gorging itself until it expels the key. Drafted in ink, ink wash, and colored pencil on 11.5" x 16.5" storyboard paper. Exhibits light handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
