Description

Genesis II (Warner Bros. TV, 1973), Gene Roddenberry Group of Early Development Materials. Vintage original group of (4) early development materials written by Gene Roddenberry for a new concept he hoped to develop as a follow-up to the original Star Trek, including (1) 1-page hand-typed letter addressed to "Jerry" (presumably Jerry Leider, President of Warner Bros. TV), explaining the general premise, with handwritten pencil notations and edits throughout, (1) 6-page hand-typed Series Outline dated May 14, 1972 with handwritten notations throughout, (1) 13-page document titled "STORY SPRINGBOARDS", dated May 24, 1972 with minor handwritten pencil notations, and (1) 3-page document titled "THE SHAPE OF 2177 A.D.", dated May 26, 1972. Also included is a 1-page note on yellow paper handwritten in pencil, "Assorted G.II contents / For safekeeping at the office / GR". As indicated by the level of detail in these documents, Roddenberry had planned enough stories for a 20-episode first season, though the series was not ultimately picked up to series. Thus this production exists as a self-enclosed made-for-television movie. Contents exhibit expected signs of handling and wear including edge creases, bumped corners and occasional chips, foxing, and smudges from pencil-use. This lot presents one of the first times Heritage is able to offer Gene Roddenberry's own development materials from the project. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
