Description
Star Trek: The Original Series (Paramount, 1966-1969), Eddie Jones Original Artwork for German Magazine Bild und Funk. Vintage original artwork by Eddie Jones for Bild und Funk, a German magazine that published stories from the original series in serialized form along with accompanying title illustrations. This artwork is for a story inspired by Season 1, Episode 27, "Errand of Mercy". Mounted to artist's board measuring 16" x 12" and accomplished in black ink with a sheet of transparent paper, taped to verso, overlaid on the artwork and featuring stenciled revisions and notes in black, pink, and blue ink. Signed S. Fantoni (Jones' pen name) and dated January 27, 1973 with handwritten "Eddie Jones (S. Fantoni) 1972 - Bild und Funk - 'Enterprise' Errand of Mercy". In 1973, Eddie Jones was commissioned to create a series of title illustrations for stories within the Star Trek universe written by James Blish, used to create buzz for Star Trek beginning to screen in Germany (where it was known as Enterprise). These works were later published in the portfolio A Star Trek Portfolio by S. Fantoni. Exhibits signs of age and handling, including corner bumps to the board and a small ink smudge along the edge. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
