Description
The Munsters (CBS TV, 1964-1966), "Grandpa Munster" Electric Chair from 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Vintage original set piece from the infamous home of The Munsters. This prop chair is constructed of wooden panels and planks, metal, leather and other wire and ceramic components. All expertly assembled and distressed to appear as a functioning electric chair with 1- 7" oval bonnet (interior lightbulb socket) affixed to a 21" aluminum arm, 2- white-glazed 5" x 2.5" ceramic insulators on top posts of the chair back, 2- hinged metal wrist shackles affixed to the chair arms and 2- leather 22" punched belt straps attached to each side of the chair back. 2-distinctive holes are bored into the upper chair back. Black jacketed wire and regular household electric cord embellishes the top of the chair back. The impressive prop measures 25.25" x 23.25" x 63". Highly visible in the show and instantly recognizable as Grandpa Munster's (Al Lewis) favorite signature chair at 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Also seen in publicity materials. The base wooden chair and leather straps are all original. Other hardware and embellishment including the ceramic transformers, metal shackles, gooseneck and bonnet, etc. have been added for display. The legs of the chair appear to have been shortened several inches for use in subsequent production. Electronics untested. Exhibiting age, wear, and some chipping and scratches from age and production use.
