Description
Pacific Rim (Warner Bros., 2013), Screen Used Hero Gipsy Danger Jaeger Escape Pod. Original full-scale escape pod seen in the final sequence after Raleigh (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako (Rinko Kikuchi) eject from Jaeger Gipsy Danger to reach the ocean surface. Expertly crafted of fiberglass, wood, metal, resin, and acrylic components painted to detail by studio artists with stenciled lettering reading, "GIPSY DANGER / USA 3478-6 ESCP / EMERGENCY HATCH OPEN", with other related graphics. This escape pod's "window" endcap slides off to show the padded pod interior with two hinging doors for ingress/egress (hinges on both doors are frozen with doors in closed position). Included are six inflatable flotation bladders, with strapping, seen surrounding the escape pod after it reaches the water surface. This same escape pod was used for both Raleigh and Mako, despite the storyline depicting two separate pods. Comes with an extra 24.5" x 18.5" acrylic window. Exhibits production wear and age with soiling, scattered scratches, cracks in the fiberglass finish, and oxidation on hardware from being exposed to the elements. Escape pod measures approximately 90" x 43" x 28"; each flotation bladder measures approximately 36" x 17" (deflated) with attached strapping from the production (unknown if air bladders can hold air). This lot is located in Southern California and special arrangements via third party shipper will apply. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions."We built only one escape pod for the film. The shooting of it took place at the famous Universal Studios backlot lake. It was used both as a flotation device and as the holding pod that releases both the heroes of the film and gives us the final iconic image of the film."
From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
