Pan's Labyrinth (Tequila Gang, 2006), (3) Piece Maquette of the Labyrinth Entrance Monoliths......
Description
Pan's Labyrinth (Tequila Gang, 2006), (3) Piece Maquette of the Labyrinth Entrance Monoliths. Original (3) piece maquette of ancient, cairn-like stone monuments, crafted from hollow plaster and painted in weathered gray tones with mossy green accents. Includes (1) central piece measuring approx. 8" x 2", built over a metal rod and (2) matching side pieces, each measuring approx. 5.5" x 2"; all secured to a black wooden base measuring 8" in diameter. Seemingly inspired by Celtic, Roman, Viking, and Spanish mythical symbols-and fused with Guillermo del Toro's unique imagination-these pieces feature carved runes, ritual circles, and moss-painted surfaces that evoke the look of ancient stone. The central monument is the most detailed, bearing a carved faun's solemn face, curved horns, and open mouth. The flanking stones display circular motifs that echo the film's labyrinth and the director's signature maze designs. These monoliths mark the entrance to the labyrinth, signaling a threshold between reality and myth. Their emergence from the overgrown earth evokes a long-forgotten past-one that Ofelia (Ivana Baquero) reawakens by replacing the faun's missing stone eye, triggering the appearance of a grasshopper-like creature (which later transforms into a fairy) and beginning her magical journey. A rare artifact from Guillermo del Toro's world-building, showcasing his layered blend of folklore, practical effects, fantasy, and visual storytelling. Exhibits wear, deliberate studio distressing, and evidence of repair to the base of the structures. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions."Again, before budget and reality set in, the original idea was to have Ofelia encounter a cluster of Celtic monuments - alas, we had to consolidate all of them in one. So I had it mounted backwards to the road - that way we get two views in one. There is one more sculpture like this - it represents the single monument...but this concept sculpture done long, long, long before the film came into being, showcases the original layout and intention." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
