Description

The Forgotten Prisoner of Castle Mare' (453-150) Glow-In-The-Dark Model Kit AFA 85 ** POP 1, Highest Grade ** (Aurora, 1969). Aurora's monster model kits of the 1960s are legendary in the hobby, and The Forgotten Prisoner of Castle Mare' stands out as one of the most distinctive. Released in 1969, the kit depicts a skeletal figure shackled to a dungeon wall, complete with glow-in-the-dark parts that captured the macabre imagination of the era. Its box art, like so many Aurora releases, became as iconic as the kit itself, cementing its place in monster-collecting lore.

Graded AFA 85 NM+, this example is the single highest-graded copy recorded in the AFA Population Report, POP 1 with none higher. That makes it not only exceptionally well preserved, but also the finest known example of one of Aurora's most memorable glow kits. For fans of classic horror and model kit history, The Forgotten Prisoner of Castle Mare' embodies everything that made Aurora's releases so impactful: eerie subject matter, striking presentation, and the unforgettable thrill of parts that glowed in the dark. This piece is both a premier rarity and a nostalgic masterpiece from the golden age of model kits.
