Description

DC Mechanical Superman Turnover Tank Tin Toy with Original Box (Linemar, 1950s). Produced in Japan by Linemar under license from National Comics Publications, this Mechanical Superman Turnover Tank is one of the most recognizable Superman tin toys of the postwar era. The wind-up M-25 tank flips over as Superman "lifts" it from below-a perfect marriage of mechanical novelty and comic-book heroism. With vivid lithographed graphics and classic Linemar engineering, it stands as a shining example of 1950s Japanese craftsmanship meeting American pop culture. The toy shows moderate surface wear, scuffing, and minor litho loss consistent with age and use, but retains strong color and operational charm. The original box is included, flattened and stored in a protective top-loader. The box exhibits heavy wear throughout, including tearing, creasing, discoloration, staining, edge wear, and corner separation, but remains largely complete and legible-a rarity given the fragility of Linemar packaging. As both an early Superman collectible and a postwar Japanese tin toy, this piece occupies a key intersection of toy and comic history. Its kinetic design and colorful presentation have made it a cornerstone for both DC memorabilia collectors and vintage tin toy enthusiasts worldwide.
