Description

Masters of the Universe Eternia Playset AFA 80 Highest Grade in First Release Box (Mattel, 1986). As the crown jewel of the Masters of the Universe toy line, Eternia was Mattel's most ambitious and mythic undertaking, an enormous, motorized world meant to embody the cosmic scale of He-Man's universe. Released in 1986 as the flagship Series 5 playset, Eternia was conceived as the ultimate battlefield, command center, and display environment, towering over Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain alike. Its sheer size, complexity, and premium price point at retail ensured that few were ever produced and even fewer survived intact, instantly cementing Eternia's status as the line's most legendary and unattainable offering. This example has been graded AFA 80 and is in the first version box which features the "NEW!" text on the front and side. Subsequent releases removed this text from the packaging. The AFA 80 grade remains the highest grade given to a first release of the playset. Eternia has always represented the pinnacle of Masters of the Universe collecting-the piece whispered about in catalogs, dreamed of on living room floors, and rarely seen outside of vintage advertisements. For the advanced MOTU collector, opportunities like this are vanishingly rare, and once missed, seldom return. This is not merely a playset; it is the summit.
