Description

Rocky & Bullwinkle Bendable Figures Lot of 9 (Wham-O, 1972). Wham-O's early-1970s bendable line brought the wonderfully offbeat world of Jay Ward's cartoons into three-dimensional form, offering kids a chance to twist, pose, and play with characters whose humor defined an era of animated satire. From the moose-and-squirrel duo to their melodramatic villains and the time-traveling antics of Mr. Peabody and Sherman, this assortment captures nearly the full cast of Ward's television universe. The figures' bright cards, playful character quotes, and bold mid-century design sensibilities make them enduring favorites among collectors of classic animation memorabilia. The lot includes nine bendables: Rocky, Bullwinkle, two examples of Boris, Natasha, Snidely, Dudley Doright, Sherman, and Mr. Peabody. All figures remain sealed to their cards except for Bullwinkle, whose bubble has lifted along the bottom, allowing access to the figure. The remaining pieces show typical aging and light scuffing from contact with their bubbles. Across the group, cardbacks exhibit moderate edge wear with scuffing and dents, while the corners show moderate softening and scuffing. Surface wear ranges from moderate to considerable, including scuffing, creasing, fading, discoloration, and veining. Mr. Peabody's card shows the most pronounced damage, with multiple tears-including the loss of the top-left corner and a ripped hanger-and tape repairs applied to reattach the lower left corner. Bubbles across the lot display moderate to significant wear, with crushing, scuffing, and occasional cracks. For fans of Jay Ward's irreverent storytelling, few artifacts summon the charm of these early Wham-O bendables. Their bold graphics and era-specific whimsy place them at the crossroads of toy history and television nostalgia, offering a tangible link to characters who continue to inspire new generations of viewers. As a near-complete ensemble, this group serves as an inviting foundation for a classic animation collection or a delightfully quirky centerpiece for any display built around the golden age of televised satire.
