Description

Zillion of Bubbles 6 Sets (Loose & Carded) in Retail Shipping Case (Wham-O, 1956). Launched during Wham-O's explosive mid-1950s streak of novelty hits, Zillion of Bubbles was part of the company's early push into whimsical, kid-powered outdoor toys-arriving just before inventions like the Hula Hoop and Superball made Wham-O a household name. With bright mid-century card art and playful branding, these bubble sets reflect the era's fascination with simple, high-fun concepts marketed through eye-catching retail displays. This lot includes six total sets housed in their original retail shipping case: five sealed carded sets with their cellophane intact (aside from a few small holes), plus one loose set missing its bubbles and insert. Across the five bubble-card sets, condition is heavily affected by age and leaking bottles. The edges show heavy scuffing and dents, while the corners are heavily worn and softened. The cardback surfaces display heavy staining from long-evaporated bubble liquid along with significant creasing and veining. All five sealed cards remain intact, but the bubble bottles have leaked over time, causing varying degrees of moisture damage and soiling to the backing cards. The retail shipping box shows significant wear overall. Edges exhibit pronounced scuffing and dents, and corners show significant scuffing and crushing. Box surfaces reflect significant scuffing, creasing, veining, yellowing, tears, and areas with tape remnants. An additional feature of interest: the lid includes printed instructions indicating how the shipping container could be converted into a store display-a classic mid-century Wham-O merchandising touch. For collectors of early Wham-O novelties, 1950s packaging, or vintage bubble toys, this lot represents a scarce multi-set survivor from the brand's formative era, complete with its original commercial shipping and display component.
