The Rolling Stones "Rock N' Roll Circus" Autographs By Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, John Lennon and Yoko Ono (1968)....
Description
MEMBERS OF THE ROLLING STONES AND THE BEATLES UNITE
The Rolling Stones "Rock N' Roll Circus" Autographs By Mick
Jagger, Brian Jones, John Lennon and Yoko Ono (1968).
Collection of (6) vintage items from the "Roll 'N' Roll Circus"
recording event, one of the most ambitious Stones projects at that
time. Including (1) sheet of lined paper signed in blue ballpoint
by Mick Jagger ("To Gill"), Brian Jones, John Lennon, and Yoko Ono
- an extraordinary grouping of autographs from the unique concert
spectacular where Lennon and Ono both participated in the one-off
"Dirty Mac" supergroup with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Mick
Mitchell, and violinist Ivry Gitlis. Measuring 7" x 4.5" folded,
the autographs were obtained by a member of the Rolling Stones Fan
Club who attended the filming of the Rolling Stones "Rock 'N' Roll
Circus" in December 1968; (1) plastic sunflower measuring approx.
10.5" x 8.5", seen in the concert film held by an attendee sat next
to Pete Townshend during the final song "Salt of the Earth"; and
(4) candid behind-the-scenes photographs of the event, each
measuring 3.5" x 3.5". To obtain the autographs of Jagger and Jones
is an impressive feat - to have the autograph of a Beatle as well
makes this an exceptional piece of rock history. Provenance:
Christie's London, June 26, 2013, Lot 155. Paper exhibits light
handling creases, light toning, edge and fold wear. Sunflower
exhibits minor handling wear including some cracking to the yellow
petals. Some photographs exhibit light fading or fold lines, light
paper loss to verso. The photographs offered without copyright.
