The Rolling Stones Melody Maker Award for "Top Vocal Group and Disc" (1964). Vintage "Pop Poll" award plaque, presented by the UK music magazine Melody Maker to the Rolling Stones for winning "top vocal group and disc" for 1964. Measuring 5" x 8" x 0.5" overall, the award comprises a plaque with the embossed figure of a saxophonist with the letters "EMEM", and an additional plaque engraved with the award and recipient details. The embossed plaque is hallmarked to 1964 and the London-based maker Garrard & Co. The Stones were presented with these awards at London's Savoy Hotel on September 10, 1964, with numerous photos taken at the event which included a formal dinner. Images from the occasion were published including by Radio Times in later that month (illustrated for reference). Exhibits wear consistent with age including toning and handling marks and scratches to both side of the plaques, some of the hallmarks slightly faded. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
