Group of Poster Concept Artworks for Star Wars Original Trilogy 20th Anniversary Re-Release (ca. 1996). Original group of (4) poster concept artworks by Luis Russo for the 20th Anniversary Special Edition re-release of the original Star Wars trilogy, each accomplished on 6.5" x 9.5" illustration paper using airbrush, acrylic, ink, pastel and mixed media paste-up elements. Artworks are mounted to 9" x 12" boards and depict a variety of images and characters evocative of the original trilogy featuring Darth Vader, Jabba the Hutt, and the central protagonists including Princess Leia and Han Solo. Several stamped and signed by the artist. Also included are 2-photostat pages of preliminary concept sketches made by the artist, from which these artworks were based. These designs were official commissions for the posters used for the Special Edition re-release but were ultimately not selected. Items exhibit some signs of use, handling, and wear to the boards with some signs of glue lines on 1-image. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
