Description
High Plains Drifter (Universal, 1973), Final Draft Screenplay. Vintage original group of (4) items including (1) Final Draft screenplay for Ernest Tidyman's High Plains Drifter, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, 123-page (as paginated), studio-bound and bradded in red studio wraps and production numbered "00166" on mimeographed mint-green pages, and (3) facsimile production schedules for that location, likely made and distributed to production crew along with the present draft copy. Schedules contain details for the 26th, 32nd, and 33rd days of shooting, with clear detailing of the set descriptions, cast details, and special requirements including horses and wranglers required. High Plains Drifter, written by Ernest Tidyman and an uncredited Dean Riesner, was a supernatural Western based on Tidyman's story inspired by the real-life murder of Kitty Genovese, which shook the public in 1964 and popularized the idea of the "Bystander Effect." Eastwood's directing style, the first film he developed for himself to star in and direct, took cues from his two biggest influences, the Western titan Sergio Leone and the gritty genre specialist Don Siegel. The film was shot on location around Mono Lake, California. Script exhibits expected signs of age, including toning to the paper (perhaps causing the mint-green color from original crème-white), and minor bumped corners and edgewear. Schedules are folded and creased. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
