Description
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (Paramount, 1989), Rick Sternbach Signed Original Artwork for Nimbus III Twin Moons. Original artwork by Rick Sternbach for the Nimbus III Twin Moons conceptualized for Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, accomplished with acrylic on 2-separate 8.5" x 6.5" image areas on a single 9.75" x 15" artist's board. Artworks depict the Twin Moons as seen in daylight over a desert landscape and at night from outside Paradise City. Painted by Sternbach as reference for visual effects footage and signed "STERNBACH '88" on the bottom of the painting. Accompanied by a mimeograph letter on 8.5." x 11" paper titled, "Advice on Making Moons / Rick Sternbach, Stark Trek Art Dept. / 8/8/88" which stipulates in part, "One should remember that natural satellites of a planet reflect light from the system's sun, and this light passes through the planet's atmosphere. What this means is that no part of a moon's image should be darker than the surrounding sky color. It can, of course, be lighter." The remainder of the letter goes on to describe the differences in depicting moons between daytime and nighttime, as reflected in the accompanying paintings. Painting exhibits minimal signs of wear and age with some mild corner bumps to board, with letter exhibiting tape reside from prior affixing to verso of board.
