Description

Lawrence of Arabia (Columbia, 1962), Peter O'Toole "T.E. Lawrence" Hero Webley Mark VI Double Action Revolver. Vintage original Webley VI Double Action Revolver serial numbered 160698 on the barrel, frontstrap, backstrap and butt and 698 on the frame and cylinder. Featuring a blued finish, the double action revolver is chambered in .45 caliber and features a 6" barrel with fixed front and rear sights, push-lever barrel and cylinder release, checkered hard-rubber grip panels, and lanyard ring. The left side of the frame is marked "WEBLEY / MARK VI / PATENTS / 1917" with various British proof marks. Base of the barrel is stamped "N / 698 / 1319 / 293748", with "293748" also present on base of frame. Being a standard British service sidearm of World War I, T.E. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) carried his Webley Mark VI revolver, underlining his identity as both an officer in the British Army and an outsider in the Arab Revolt, serving as a symbol of imperial authority and discipline, contrasting with the Arab warriors' rifles and curved swords. Condition: Very good. Retaining approximately 90-94% finish with scattered signs of handling wear and fine patches of pitting. Dings and scratches present to grips. Action crisp. Bright bore. Obtained from Bapty & Co. Special shipping arrangements via a federal firearms licensed dealer will apply. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
