Description

Braveheart (Paramount, 1995), English Soldier's Pudding Bowl Helmet. Original steel pudding bowl-shaped helmet from the 1995 epic historical war film, Braveheart, featuring a classic pudding bowl pie-dish shape with dimpled crown and ring of punched-in rivets, exhibiting oxidation rust throughout and with internal foam cushioning and retaining production label marked, "Property of Clan Wallace / Highland Images / PB 2". Braveheart tells the story of the Scottish warrior William Wallace (Mel Gibson) in his pursuit for independence on behalf of the Scottish against King Edward I of England, aka Longshanks (Patrick McGoohan). Based on the internal markings, it is likely this helmet was used during a sequence in which a Scottish warrior retrieves the helmet from the body of an English soldier and puts it on to mimic his enemy. The film was a critical and commercial success, attaining over $200M at the box office as well as multiple Academy Awards nominations, including for Best Picture. Exhibiting production age and wear including bending and dimples to the metal, oxidation rust to interior and exterior, and desiccation of the foam cushion. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions. From The Stewart Berkowitz Television Treasures Collection.
