Richard Corben - Life Study Nude Illustration Original Art (1999)....
Description
Richard Corben - Life Study Nude Illustration Original Art (1999). This 2001 nude study by Richard Corben, best known for his work in Heavy Metal magazine and underground comics, reveals a quieter, more intimate side of the artist. Known for his exaggerated fantasy anatomy and horror storytelling, Corben here uses soft, expressive linework and natural textures to capture a serene moment of repose in a pastoral setting. Drafted in graphite with an image area of 9.25" x 13.25"; plexiglass-front framed to 15.25" x 19.5". Signed and dated in the lower right of the image area. Exhibits light handling. Unexamined out of frame. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions."I believe that Richard Corben kept life drawing sessions through the decades. Like a guitar player, he knew you never master the instrument. You just have to practice. Corben's anatomy is elastic and expressive, but the beautiful nude studies show his mastery of it - making his more 'free' choices clearly deliberate and precise. As such, the studies are a cornerstone in a Corben collection. I selected these two from the few available. Mostly because they are not heroic fantasy-level nudes but quotidian and moving." From the personal collection of Guillermo del Toro.
