Description

The Mummy (427-98) Model Kit (Aurora, 1963). Aurora's Universal Monsters line reshaped the landscape of character merchandising in the 1960s, and The Mummy remains one of the most atmospheric releases from the series. Packed with vintage illustration, classic horror charm, and the unmistakable aura of Boris Karloff's iconic portrayal, the kit helped cement Aurora's reputation for bringing silver-screen legends into the hands of young monster fans. Decades later, these early issues continue to stand as touchstones for collectors of model kits, horror cinema, and mid-century pop culture. This example shows moderate wear around the edges with areas of scuffing and small dents, while the corners exhibit moderate scuffing. The front panel surfaces display moderate scuffing consistent with long-term shelf life. The kit remains MIB, still sealed in its original factory-applied cellophane. The cellophane is loose, showing significant wear, including scuffing, staining, and several small tears, with rubbing at the corners resulting in punctures and openings. For enthusiasts of classic horror kits or collectors rebuilding Aurora's legendary monster lineup, this sealed example offers a direct link to the formative era of character modeling. The aura of early Aurora-its dramatic art, its universal appeal, its place at the center of 1960s monster culture-endures vividly here. As opportunities to acquire factory-sealed originals continue to grow rarer, this specimen stands ready to add a chillingly iconic presence to any focused collection.
