John Wayne Commemorative Pocketknife (ca. 1980s). Original double-bladed trapper pocketknife by W.R. Case & Sons commemorating the Western film legend, John Wayne. This limited edition pocketknife features a synthetic wooden handle numbered "072" and 2-spey and clip blades with etched text to each blade reading, "John Wayne / American Hero" and "John Wayne / True Grit". These commemorative knives were made following the actor's passing and reference one of his most popular roles as Rooster Cogburn in True Grit (Paramount, 1969). Pocketknife measures 4" x .75" and comes in a custom felt-lined black faux leather display/storage case measuring 7" x 4" x 1" with printed commemorative images of Wayne to top and interior and a gold-colored nameplate inside reading, "John Wayne / An American Hero / 1907-1979". Knife shows some signs of age and wear with case exhibiting significant scuffing and handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
