John Wayne Commemorative Pocketknife (ca. 1980s). Original double-bladed trapper pocketknife by W.R. Case & Sons commemorating the Western legend John Wayne's role in True Grit (Paramount, 1969). This limited edition pocketknife features a jigged bone handle numbered "169" and 2-spey and clip blades with etched text to each blade reading, "John Wayne / True Grit" and "Rooster Cogburn / U.S. Marshall". Knife measures 4" x .75" and comes in a custom felt-lined cardstock display/storage case measuring 7.75" x 4.75" x .75" with a metallic name plate inside reading, "John Wayne / "True Grit" / Rooster Cogburn / U.S. Marshall". Exterior of display case features a faux wood design with matching text and a printed outline of the actor as the infamous film character. Knife shows some signs of age and wear with cardstock exhibiting some edgewear, bubbling, and tears from age and storage. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
