Harry and the Hendersons (Universal, 1987), Kevin Peter Hall "Harry" Complete Costume Ensemble Created by Rick Baker's Makeup Effects Studio. Original (4) piece costume ensemble including (1) oversized mask constructed of rubber latex over fiberglass with rayon lining and padding, fitted with resin gums, resin teeth, and yak hair colored red, white, and brown punched into foam latex, retaining original maker's label etched into coated padded pieces for back of head that were separated during costume's construction reading "S / Quinn" and second label reading "M" in black marker on the gums, (1) jersey knit bodysuit with brass snap-button and back zipper closure, fitted with a tan spandex chest area, black spandex lining, male end of brass buttons on the arm and leg openings, and hand-punched yak hair colored gray, brown, and tan, retaining original internal bias label handwritten "3" in black marker, (1) pair of brown rubber latex gloves with brown yak hair punched in mesh overlay covering the wrists and back of hands, female halves of snap buttons on the wrists to secure to bodysuit, viscous lining, and intentional etching simulating skin wrinkles and fingertips, and (1) pair of brown rubber latex feet with spandex lining, brown yak hair punched in to mesh overlay covering the ankle and top of foot, female halves of snap buttons to secure to bodysuit, and intentional etching simulating skin wrinkles and toenails. Accompanying the lot is a pair of chest pads, likely used to protect Hall from irritation. The suit was designed by the revolutionary makeup artist and special effects creator Rick Baker. Out of all the mesmerizing special effects he created, Baker is reportedly most proud of his design for Harry (Kevin Peter Hall). Costume presented here was most likely used for wide shots and exteriors since no animatronic or armature components are present. Exhibits production age and wear with small holes on the interior bodysuit, slight discoloration to rubber components, loss of hair on the chest region, rubber opening tears on the glove knuckles and some fingers, and desiccation to mask, gloves, and feet props, resulting in hardening. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
