Star Trek: The Next Generation (Paramount, 1987-1994), Rick Sternbach Group of Original Concept Artwork from Episode "Encounter at Farpoint". Original group of (12) mixed media concept artworks by Rick Sternbach for Season 1, Episode 1, "Encounter at Farpoint" on artist's drawing paper ranging from 8" x 5" to 17" x 11" and accomplished with felt-tip, graphite, ink, and computer-generated elements for an array of designs for the episode including the alien vessel torture chamber, the station creature, design of crinoid/sea stars, and interior structures such as a "Basic Bandi Residential Module". Most sheets signed by Sternbach and many dated with identifications. Following the success of the Star Trek films, Sternbach was one of the first artists hired to update the Trek universe for the second television series, The Next Generation, and was instrumental in reimagining as well as generating new technology, spacecraft, props, set pieces, and overall key design elements for the new series. Exhibits some signs of handling and wear, including stray marks and bumped corners. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
