Journey Back to Oz (Filmation, 1972), Liza Minnelli Signed Contract (1962). Vintage original 11-page contract, signed in blue ink by a young Liza Minnelli for the animated sequel to her mother Judy Garland's film. Although dated November 8, 1962, the movie did not premiere until 1972 and is identified here by its working title, "Return to the Land of Oz." The contract is printed on 8.5" x 13" paper with two-hole punches at the top of each page. The first page is on vellum, bound with three grommets in the upper left corner and threaded with red ribbon secured at the lower left with tape. Also signed by Dr. O. Hoffman and Jim B. Marshall. Minnelli signed the contract at age 16-the same age her mother was when she starred in The Wizard of Oz. Production delays and funding issues caused the film to be shelved until its UK release in 1972 and its U.S. release in 1974. Had it been released as originally planned, it would have marked Minnelli's first major acting role. Exhibits general wear and age, including edge wear, overall toning, tears along the edges, and a horizontal fold crease across the center.
