Universal Studios Hollywood King Kong Encounter Design Maquette from Early Disney Imagineer Dave Schweninger (1985). Original plaster cast maquette of King Kong's head, expertly painted in glossy black with a red mouth and white teeth. Measures 11" x 7" x 6". Accompanied by an 8.5" x 11" contemporary printed photograph showing the production of the full-scale King Kong figure created for the iconic Universal Studios Hollywood attraction. The piece originates from Sequoia Creative, the design firm founded by former Disney Parks Imagineer, Dave Schweninger, along with Bob Gurr and Tom Reidenbach. The team was commissioned in October 1985 to develop the 30-foot-tall King Kong animatronic figure for the Universal Studios Tour. Exhibits handling wear and age, including surface scratches, paint loss, and chipping to the front teeth. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
