Janis Joplin & "Main Squeeze" 1970 San Rafael, CA Hells Angels Concert Poster. An original red & black small-town concert poster for a Hells Angels Party taking place at Bermuda Palms in San Rafael, California (about a half-hour north of San Francisco in Marin County) on Thursday night, May 21, 1970.

It's interesting how poster artist Don Moses went casual in naming the acts; Big Brother & the Holding Company - sans Janis Joplin by now - are just called "Big Brother"; and Janis herself, appearing with her own back-up group, is called just "Janis." One Internet site states that "Main Squeeze" was an alternate name for Janis' Full Tilt Boogie Band, but we were unable to confirm that. This first-ever Heritage offering measures 17 1/2" x 23 1/8" and grades to Very Good condition. From the David Swartz Concert Poster Collection. COA from Heritage Auctions.

Poster has a brown stain on the left margin about halfway down. There's a ¼" tear on the bottom edge, directly down from the "M" in "May." The poster has a curious 15" large diagonal crease mostly in the lower right quadrant, passing through "Blvd." It's pretty much flattened out over time, and more visible on the verso (where there's actually two of them). Not much of a factor on the front. And the poster has general toning throughout, getting a little stronger on the edges.
